OU-AAUP
New brand and identity
Task
Design a website and style guide that is easy to use
The Ohio University chapter of the American Association of University Professors (OU-AAUP) advocates on behalf of academic freedom, tenure, shared governance, and equitable working conditions for all OU faculty. The goal for this project was to create a website that would serve to help OU-AAUP communicate with their local community by disseminating useful information about issues and events. In addition to a website a simple style guide was created that the communications team could implement easily even as leadership changed.
One of the challenges of this project was to choose a content management system with design elements that could be continuously implemented as team members change. By using a black and white color palette with one accent color, one primary font, and a simple logo, OU-AAUP can maintain clear communication and an easily recognizable identity.
An important component of the client’s mission is advocacy supported by research. The following data visualization is an example created in collaboration between OU-AAUP and the OU Black Faculty Association. The data for this project comes from census.gov, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Ohio University Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics. Looking forward to solving more design problems through in-depth research, iteration, and user centered approaches.
