Case Stydy Identity November 1, 2024

Swirled

For Swirled, the goal was to create a cohesive brand identity that reflects their mission of bringing joy and creativity to every celebration with their mobile soft-serve ice cream cart. We aimed to design a unique business card to help the owner connect with potential clients at events, paired with a fun yet modern website that maintained professionalism without feeling overly childish. Additionally, we developed a comprehensive branding guide to ensure consistency and provide a foundation for future projects as the business grows. We were able to highlight Swirled’s ability to create memorable, aesthetically pleasing experiences for hosts and guests alike through our designs.

⬤ 01. Challenges

Branding Challenges

The largest challenge I faced with this project was working with a client who provided minimal feedback and seemed to like we everything presented. While this made it easier to get approvals and move onto the next steps, it left little room to refine the brand to meet their unique goals. This made it harder to ensure the final product truly reflected their identity.

Another significant challenge was the limitations of the free version of GoDaddy. Without access to premium features, we were unable to fully customize the website as planned, restricting our ability to implement advanced design elements and functionality. This limited the overall effectiveness of the web presence we envisioned for the brand.

We mixed low tech and high magic approaches for creating this new water color based package design. Passion Works artists will create the watercolor artwork for the packaging. The final boxes will be die cut at Passions Works Studios.

⬤ 02. Experience

Branding within Swirled guidelines

I talked with Swirled founder on some things she wanted to include in her branding identity and explored different design choices that included the things she wanted for her brand.

This was a learning experience for me since I’ve never done something like this before. It was good experience for me to navigate what my client wants as well as a design that represents my work and created something for both me and my client to share.

⬤ 03. Process

Fulfilling the Goals for Swirled

By the end of the semester, we were able to develop a second logo option, font choices, color pallets, and a somewhat finalized website. One of the elements I enjoyed most was putting together and organizing the information on the website despite the challenges! Especially for a fun and unique business like this one, you don’t see these kinds of fun design choices, but it fits really well with the goals and the image the client was trying to get across.
