WildHaven Herbal

For this project, I worked with Megan Strahler and her business WildHaven Herbal. WildHaven Herbal provides resources of wellness for both people and animals alike, with Megan having a history in veterinary practices, acupuncture, Chinese Traditional Medicine, and Western Herbal Medicine. Megan uses her knowledge in these fields to provide tinctures and herbal tea products available for purchase.

My part was to create a website for WildHaven Herbal. The website’s goal was to inform audiences about what WildHaven Herbal was about, showcase Megan’s farm, and provide product info/locations.

⬤ 01. Challenges

Branding Challenges

At the start, we spoke of both packaging design and web design.  Megan was working with another designer for her logo, and it was not yet finalized.  I provided some packaging styles Megan may be interested in, but without a final logo and color palette in place, it was difficult for us to pinpoint a packaging style for me to work on. The idea of me working on packaging design was eventually scrapped, though my assistant designer, Henry Walker, did provide Megan with some resources/websites she may find useful for getting these made in the future.

Initially I had some experience in web design, though not much. I especially had never used GoDaddy, which was the site builder used for this project. I had to familiarize myself with the interface and learn what features/limits Godaddy possessed. I found it relatively easy to grasp.

⬤ 02. Experience

Building the website

Megan was helpful in supplying me the materials needed for this project. I was given a photo album of the farm and body text to integrate into the site.

During our bi-weekly meetings, I gave Megan different options of layouts and made note of which she liked best.I’d have a new part of the site built each meeting, tweaking and adjusting where it was needed.
